  • The answer sheet is scanned thoroughly, andraw scoreThe score is based on how many questions you got right or wrong.
  • Essay, if taken – isScored by two human graders. The evaluation process takes a lot of time as it is thoroughly checked. Different elements of the essay – including vocabulary, language expression, grammar and how well the student writes – cover the content.
  • Your raw score is converted to a 1600 scale using that testScaling rubric. It represents the final SAT score that may qualify for college admission.

Because thousands of students apply for the SAT each year, it takes time to evaluate and distribute detailed test results.

Understanding SAT Scores:

There are different classifications in which SAT scores are understood in the following ways:

1. Composite Score:

This is a simple way of SAT scores ranging from 400 to 1600 points from two sections, namely math and evidence-based English-writing, which are 800 points each. The College Board redesigned the test in 2016 to aim for an “average” total score of 1000—categorically with 400 as the lowest score and 1600 as the middle of the highest score.

2. Percentage Score:

AA’s better scientific way of understanding your SAT score is to use percentages. The College Board publishes an annual report that lists two means of percentiles, one as a nationally representative sample and one as a percentage of users. The former compares your scores to typical high school juniors and seniors, and the latter compares you to actual SAT test takers.

Percentage of users is more valuable as a data point. Your user percentile tells you how you “rank” compared to other test takers. For example, if you scored in the 50% percentile, you scored 50% or higher of other SAT students.

3. Sub Score:

The SAT provides seven subscores ranging from 1-15, four from the reading, writing, and language sections (Command of Evidence, Words in Context, Expression of Ideas, and Standard English Conventions), and three from the math test.

Strengths and weaknesses are easy to identify—they’re color-coded to mean greenOn track for college readinessTranslates yellowCloser to track for college readiness to continue strengthening skills, and red flags to increase skills. Sub scores are a great way for students to focus their energy if they plan to retake the SAT!

Final words:

The time it takes to get SAT scores depends on the type of test given (with major sections and essay writing), the test center, and, and, and, and the different ways of evaluating SAT scores. Students need to be aware of score results in order to effectively plan for college admissions.
