The duration of the entire SAT exam is three hours without a break. The writing section focuses on identifying and correcting mistakes in passages. It includes all multiple choice questions to answer. The writing test tests your language skills but doesn’t mean you have to be familiar with the topics in the written passage.
The section will test your language skills based on words in context, including order of evidence, concepts of expression, standard English conversions, and history and science analysis. This section consists of 44 multiple choice sections, which are given 35 minutes to answer.
The following abilities are measured in the writing and language sections:

- Using words in context
- Standard English Etiquette

As mentioned above, the math section has two subsections: with calculator and without calculator. You can only access the calculator with the calculator section, and using it can help you save time. Also, the math section is not entirely multiple choice. 22 percent of the maths section has a grid of questions that are fill-in-the-blank only. This section contains 58 questions and gives you 80 minutes to answer them.
The SAT has two math subsections:
- Math No Calculator, where the use of calculators is prohibited.
- Math calculator, for which a calculator can be used.
The math curriculum focuses on algebra, including linear equations and systems, advanced mathematics, complex geometry, trigonometry questions, problem-solving and data analysis, world problems, and quantitative literature.
How many questions can you get wrong on the SAT?
